returning to god’s word
by abby Ralph
Vice President of Christians Engaged, Ben Quine, always says, “God’s Word holds the answers for life!”
He’s right – the answer to every question in life you have ever had can be found in God and in His Word.
This doesn’t mean we get to know all the answers – in fact, there are many things our human minds cannot comprehend. Isaiah 55:8-9 says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
But the Bible directs us to live our lives in a certain way and for a certain purpose. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” When following God, He gives us everything we need to live a full life. God’s Word is beneficial for us as individuals, for our families, our cities, our country, and society as a whole.
Think about a city you’ve lived in or visited that felt safe and enjoyable to be in. Odds are, you were in a place in which the rules and laws of that city reflected God’s Word, even if it was unintentional. God has a heart for justice and order as laid out in scripture – and when justice and order are carried out properly in a city, the citizens thrive.
Our culture has slowly adopted principles that go against God’s Word. We’ve seen abortions, transgenderism, and illegal immigration rise over time because our country has increasingly drifted from biblical values – and our society has suffered as a result.
If we rooted ourselves in the Bible, lived out those values daily, and encouraged those same values in the culture around us, including in our government, how much better off would we be?
Seeing the evolution of our culture come to a place where we have abandoned God’s Word is saddening in the least. Thankfully, revival is happening across America – a cry out to Christ for true repentance across our generation. The tide is turning, and ahead of our 250th birthday as a nation, we long to see more people read God’s Word and treasure it in their heart.
That’s why Christians Engaged is hosting America Reads the Bible next spring, April 18-25 at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. Just as Ezra called the Israelite people back to their spiritual foundations, we long to see America do the same. We will be reading from Genesis to Revelation for a week – with 420 readers and over 100 ministries partnering to read, this event is going to be epic.
We want to encourage Gen Z to return to the Word of God as well – that’s why 1630 is hosting Return: A 1630 Gen Z Summit to encourage young adults across America to read God’s Word and be part of the revival in our nation. April 21-24, we will be in Washington, D.C. hearing God’s Word read, touring the Museum of the Bible, hearing from incredible speakers at our conference, and sharing the gospel on the streets of D.C.
This event is going to change lives – and we want you to be apart of it. Register now at the link below and sharpen your biblical knowledge, develop your leadership skills, and build community with like-minded believers.
We can’t wait to see you in Washington, D.C. in April for Return: A 1630 Gen Z Summit!
Nehemiah 1:9 “But if you turn to Me, and keep My commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out to the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from there, and will bring them to the place that I have chosen to set My name there.”
